Hampton Court Palace Golf Club played hosts to Shooting Star Children’s Hospices Charity Golf day on 30th July.
Children’s Hospices UK is the national charity that gives voice and support to all children’s hospice services. Our vision is for every child and young person who is not expected to reach adulthood – and their family – to have awareness of, and access to, the highest standards of care and support in the location of their choosing.
Organised by Mike Edwards from Rock Financial Consultants and managed by Carlo Zoccali from Hampton Court Palace Golf Club on the day, 11 teams took to the course to raise money for the charity, the weather just about held and only a few had to put up an umbreller to stay dry for a few holes.
The Everning with met with a three course evening meal and prize giving, followed by an auction presented by BBC Commentator Ian Robertson, various items where up for grabs like a signed England U-19 team cricket bat one for the future & a four-ball at Woburn Golf Club.
A great day was had by all and chance to raise money for this charity, totals raised is still being calculated but we expect it to be well over £2000 pounds.

Hampton Court Palace Golf Club recently held their second annual Pro-Am tournament – to great acclaim.
On 29th May over 150 golfers teed off in glorious weather in the breathtaking surroundings of the Royal Park in Hampton Wick, where Hampton Court Palace Golf Club is situated.
Thirty eight teams of four, each team comprising three amateurs and one professional golfer, fought it out in a keenly-contested competition.
Refreshments were laid on throughout the course of the day, with a buffet lunch and a barbecue in the evening, making the day sociable as well as competitive!
The eventual winners were a local team – Nick Redfern (pro), Mark Woolman, Gary Bowler and Simon Vincent – with a fantastic score of 89 points. They won a 2-night weekend stay for four at St. Mellion International Hotel, Golf & Country Club in Cornwall, which has recently reopened after a £20m refurbishment.
There was also a professional tournament on the day, which was won jointly by ex-US Tour player James Maclean and ex-European Tour player Andrew Raitt with excellent scores of 67 (four under par for the round).
There were several sponsors for the day, including Guy Salmon Jaguar, who put up the prize of a Jaguar car for anyone who scored a hole-in-one on the 8th hole. Sadly for the competitors, the Jag was later driven back to the garage, unclaimed.
Matthew Hazelden, General Manager of Hampton Court Palace GC said: “The second Hampton Court Palace Golf Club Pro-Am was great fun for all involved, and I would like to thank our sponsors who helped make it a day to remember.
“The amateurs really enjoyed playing with the professionals, and benefited from a little on-the-course coaching!
“The investment our owners Crown Golf have made in improvements at Hampton Court GC over recent years means that our golf course has never played better, and numbers for the event were up on last year. This is a great sign, particularly in these difficult economic times.
“I’m very keen to build on the success of this year’s tournament, and am planning next year’s event already!”
